The living room and dining room were the bane of my existence. The two rooms form an “L” shaped space with long and short walls, fireplace, and five windows left me stumped for so long.
Once I figured out what walls I wanted painted, things started to get a little easier. When you are re-doing your home you tend to have a bunch of paint left over. I am not a beige girl, and I love colors that pop. So I decided that I wanted to use the navy blue we used in our master bedroom, but I struggled on how to have it not resemble that space. Pinterest came to the rescue again, and my new love for the color red-orange grew, as you will see in my mood board.
Then came the task of removing and adding some pieces of furniture, and completely remodeling others. We have refinished our old, drab dining table, and we are still working the chairs. We bought a buffet from Craig’s List that we remodeled. When we are done with it I don’t think anyone will recognize it as the same piece. We turned an old gun chest into an upholstered bench, with added storage. Next, we are buying a coffee table that we will refinish also. Put simply, Craig’s List, paint, sanding, and elbow grease have been our best friends during this project.
I cannot wait to show you all the before and after projects. However, they do take time, so these blog posts will be completed in parts. If you cannot wait, and you want to see what we are up to be sure to follow me on Instagram, or search the hashtag #secretroomremodel.
