DAY 23: 09.14.2020
Today I am thankful for this little girl right here, our sweet Ellie Bear. At around six months old she was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder. In the beginning, she was very particular about textures, we were limited on what clothing we could put her in, she would not take a bottle and was breastfed until she was 2.5, the only baby food or food, in general, she would eat was banana baby food, and she constantly had to have one certain blanket next to her face. Keeping up with the fact that she would only breastfeed, I was on medication that affected me a great deal to keep up with her constant need for milk. The medication along with my PCOS led to me putting on a great deal of weight and I am almost certain getting off of the medication led to my immense depression. I was finally able to get her to take a bottle/sippy cup by heating up some chicken broth, she took it right away.
Once she had that first taste of the broth, we were slowly able to introduce her to new foods. She is still very picky about what she eats, the textures of most food bother her. She is more open to clothing, those textures no longer bother her. However, sound tends to be a trigger at times. Train horns, sirens, and fireworks can be an issue. I believe she is learning to cope with the sounds, I have not had to sing her special song in a while. We are still working on her potty training, she is doing wonderful with going pee-pee in the potty and almost never has any accidents but we are still working with her on going poop in the potty, for her, that is a big no-no. She struggles to look you in the eyes at times, especially when you want a photograph of her. As you can tell, I take what I can get, lol.
This sweet girl has made so many strides from where we were when she was first diagnosed, Abba and I are so proud of her. Life may not always be easy for her but she is smart as a whip and we know she can handle anything thrown her way. I love you, sweet Tatelynn Ellis, keep smiling baby girl.
